Who We Are
"Us" refers to myself, Betty, my amazing mother, Penny, whom assists with the daily care and cuddles; and of course the Persians! My mother and I own a home together in rural Maine. We have owned/raised Persians for more than 15 years. I have over 25 years experience in various breeding programs ranging from Mice to Doberman Pinschers, and a variety of creatures in between! I also worked for 10 years in the Veterinary field in multiple roles; Kennel Attendant, Receptionist & Assistant. Animals are not my hobby or interest, they are my pride, passion and life.
Our Cats Daily Lives & General Care
Firstly, our cats aren't "cats." They're our children; raised freely in the home, underfoot, exposed to lots of stimulation, cuddles, vacuums, children, our dog and all the day to day life. Litter boxes are scooped daily and filled with Fresh Step litter (or other high end brands for superior odor control.) We have multiple large boxes on multiple stories of our home. They receive a premium well varied diet. All vaccinations/vet visits are kept up to date. They're kept current on proper dewormers, Flea/tick preventatives, etc. There is someone home at almost any point in the day. If they are left alone, it's usually not for long! An average day in our home consists of cleaning their feeding stations at least twice per day; dry kibbles and fresh water are always kept down. We prefer to use stainless or ceramic feeding bowls as these can be more throughly cleaned, harbor less bacteria therefore resulting in less acne issues, etc. We brush/pluck daily and when needed, clip or have them professionally groomed. We interact with them steady and evenings are for cuddles. They also sleep with us in our beds and seek out human companionship!
